How to Play Foot Golf

New to Foot Golf? Here's everything you need to know to get started and enjoy your round.

The Main Goal

The aim of Foot Golf is similar to golf: get the ball — in this case a standard size 5 football — from the tee into the oversized hole in the fewest number of kicks possible.

Basic Rules
1

Teeing Off

To tee off, kick your ball from a position up to two yards behind the tee markers at the designated teeing area. Make sure your kick will not interfere with other players.

2

Single Movement

The ball must be played in a single movement. You are not allowed to push the ball with the top or bottom of your foot.

3

Wait for the Ball to Rest

Wait to play your next shot until the ball has completely come to rest. It is not permitted to stop the ball from rolling, including from the wind.

4

Play It as It Lies

Play the ball where it lies. You are not allowed to move the ball or remove obstructing objects. Exception: You may mark the spot and lift the ball if it obstructs another player's kick or ball in any way.

5

New Trees

If the ball lands near a new tree (marked by white stakes), retrieve or replace it within 2 steps from the nearest point on land from where the ball landed, and take a one-stroke penalty.

6

Out of Bounds

Out of bounds (OB) is defined by red stakes. If your ball goes OB, place it within 2 steps from where it crossed between the red stakes and take a one-stroke penalty.

⚽ The Spirit of Foot Golf

Foot Golf is defined by fairness, respect, and integrity. Players are expected to act with courtesy and sportsmanship with minimal supervision — being disciplined, respecting fellow players, and adhering to the rules, such as waiting for your turn and marking your ball when necessary. It combines the precision and discipline of golf with a welcoming, convivial atmosphere that is enjoyable for all.
